Streets Painted in Blood, Voices Raised to the Sky:-
On one side the streets of Kathmandu are red with blood and on the other side the screams of the youth are reaching the sky. On one hand, questions are being raised about the decision of the youth, whether it was right to kill the former Prime Minister’s wife? Questions are being raised whether it was right to strip the ministers and kill them? Was it right to burn the Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Prime Minister’s residence? On the other hand, his heroic tales are being narrated. It is said that this is the first revolution in history where Genji overthrew the government without any leader. The government was changed in 36-38 hours.
Jinji: From Meme-Maker to Revolutionary Symbol:-
Jinji, who posts memes and videos on social media, has today become a symbol of revolution. It is inspiring youth in many places around the world. The government which was weakening them by banning social media, is ousted from power by Jinji. Within 38 hours the Prime Minister’s chair falls into the abyss. But the question is, how did a movement that started peacefully turn into an extraordinary rebellion? What was the reason? This question is very important because when you go to the root you will see that those judges who were protesting with placards in their hands, who were saying not to ban social media, were aggressive today. His anger was fierce and this anger was not without reason. The change of government in 38 hours has not happened just like that. There is corruption, unemployment, nepotism and bloody war among judges. And all this together has put Nepal, which was once a symbol of peace, into instability today.
The Spark: September 4, 2025 – Social Media Ban:-
If you want to understand why Nepal burnt and how it burnt, then you will have to start the story from September 4. When a band lit a spark which was later turned into a fire by police bullets. A fire that is burning in every district of Nepal today. A fire in which the former Prime Minister’s wife was burnt to death. A fire in which the entire government has been burnt out and a fire which has thrown Nepal into a period of instability. Let us start this story from the beginning and understand why the children who were peacefully protesting in Nepal got angry and started damaging the property of their own country. The story begins on 4 September. On 4 September 2025, the Oli government banned 26 platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp, X. Said they are breaking the registration rules. The kids got worried as they felt that the son of the leader is leading a luxurious life and this is where the hashtag Nepo Kids and Nepo Babies was started. Millions of children in Nepal’s population came out on the streets.
From Books to Bullets: September 8 Tragedy:-
Got into school uniform. There were books in hands and people were shouting slogans; it was a peaceful protest. He was demanding that his point be accepted. Initially, college kids were participating in the protest, carrying banners of the book. He was raising voice against corruption and nepotism. But power sometimes goes into darkness. Power goes into pride. The power loses its connection with the people and the same thing happened in Nepal.
The Turning Point: When Peace Died:-
The government of Nepal started considering its own children as enemies. The government of Nepal forgot that these are their children. They are the children of their country. And on September 8, the police opened fire on these children in Kathmandu. 20 children were killed. 300 were slightly injured. Someone got shot in the chest, someone in the leg, someone below the eye. A 22-year-old boy was shot in the leg while shouting slogans outside Parliament. People started the hashtag #BloodyShoeNepal and photos with this #hashtag trended worldwide. This was the picture that filled the people of Nepal with anger. This was the picture that showed the world how the Nepal government oppressed Nepali children. This was the picture after which these children left the peaceful protest and what happened after that was unfortunate.
Flames of Anger: Nepal Engulfed in Chaos:-
Rajiv Gandhi Sahib once said after the death of Indira Gandhi ji that when a big tree falls, the earth keeps shaking. 20 children had died. These children lost their temper and then the DGP who ordered firing was killed by the protesters. Those media channels which were not showing things in the interest of children. Those channels which were acting as mouthpieces of the government were attacked. The TV station was set on fire. Ministers were targeted. Nepal’s Finance Minister Vishnu Padel was beaten in the street. His video of running around wearing underwear is going viral. Lakhs of rupees were blown away from the house of Nepal’s Energy Minister Deepak Khadka. The wife got burnt to death. What was a peaceful demonstration turned into a bloody revolution. However, all this could have been stopped if the Prime Minister of Nepal had stepped down from his chair as everyone knew that the protest had turned violent when bullets were fired on the children. If the Prime Minister of Nepal had wanted, these incidents could have been stopped today. Because even when Nepal was burning, Oli was still sitting holding his chair. He was not leaving the chair.
Deeper Causes: Nepotism, Corruption, and Unemployment:-
His political journey started at the age of 14. Sometimes movement against monarchy, Communist Party, going to jail, Prime Minister four times in 10 years however could never complete his term. Half a dozen ministers close to China also resigned. But amidst all this, Nepal continued burning. And why did Nepal burn? Because he was shot. Those children who were carrying books and placards in their hands were shot. The children kept saying that the bullet could have hit the leg. Other methods could have been adopted. It was time for the water shower. But the step to kill the children was taken by Nepal. Then the children destroyed Nepal. The 13 acre Rashtrapati Bhavan was taken over. Weapons were snatched from the security forces. The house was burnt down. PM House which was Oli’s house, Parliament, everything was set on fire. The Supreme Court was set on fire.
A Bloody Price for Change:-
The airport is closed, transport is halted, curfew is imposed. It is being said that the economic loss is in billions. But above all, it will all be okay again. Where did those 20 innocent lives come from? The hospitals are full of the injured. The tourism system is at a standstill and the youth are saying that this is a change of power. However, along with the bullet, there comes another story of nepotism and the nepo kids. It has been going on for quite some time now in Nepal that the children of leaders are having a good time. It is visible on social media. Travel in a private jet. They go on expensive vacations. Nepo kid, nepo baby – these were trending continuously. 20 rich people have properties. 56% youth shouted that these people are having fun on our taxes and from here the story went on. Whatever corruption there was, it added fuel to the fire. There was no transparency. Nepal is the most corrupt country in South Asia. Bandhu scam in 2021 54600 crores. Oriental Cooperative Scam 13600 Crore in 2023. Cooperative scam in 24: Rs 69600 crore. Oli was also accused of earning money from Chinese deals and the youth said, enough of respect. The unemployed youth were on the streets and unemployment was also a big reason.
The Question: Dawn or Anarchy?:-
The continuous migration from here is a huge problem and in the midst of that migration, when you banned social media, the protests took to the streets and then when you opened fire, it crossed the pinnacle of repression. That is why today when you are angry after seeing the pictures of Nepal, why were the ministers chased and beaten there? Many such incidents have happened which are very unfortunate. The children of Nepal will also have to understand that violence is not a solution to anything. But then you also have to see that 20 children were killed. 20 children, innocent children, children between 18 to 28 years of age, those children who were the future of Nepal and that is why the revolution did not break out suddenly. Nepotism, corruption, unemployment, social media bands and then blood soaked streets, blood stained shoes. These incidents shook the power as they showed the reality of Nepal. The price is still hefty, though. There is a loss of 20 lives. There is a loss of billions. Nepal faces an uncertain future. The army has taken control but the violence has not stopped. The question is, will this revolution bring dawn to Nepal or will it plunge it into anarchy? The world is watching. The judge is saying our time has come. But the question is, how much more can Nepal endure? How many lives will I have to pay? This question is very important. And that is why today we are asking who is responsible for this plight? The judge who overthrew the government or the leader and the biggest question is what is the future of Nepal from here ? Think about it.
